About

In real life I’m not actually a Saudi Arabian oil princess, but sometimes I dress like one just to pretend.

Please don’t give me a platform to describe myself. I could go on, vibrantly and with gusto, until your ears go numb.

I am, among other things, a forty-something, urban-dwelling wife and mother with an affinity for living the life less traveled.  I believe that the world has plenty enough people already, and that the more-than-143-million children currently living in orphanages and foster homes throughout the world deserve permanent, loving families. In an effort to practice what we preach, my family and I have over the past few years hosted 9 children, ages 12-17, from Latvian and Ukrainian orphanages and foster homes.

For a thousand reasons, we did not expect to be hosting again this summer, but as it turns out, for the month of July, we are a multilingual family of five. This blog is that story.

  1. This blog is so funny, i love it! I was wondering if I could email you about some of the specifics of your Latvia adoption experience. Thanks!

I’m a misplaced suffering New Yorker. Nyers get homesick too…we just call it something else.

  2. Very interesting blog. And funny! Thank you. You mention that reading of your experience with Julia is possibly open, if people contact you directly? I would love to, if you’re still open to that.
